Ora Marlene O'TooleDrawing and painting have always been a major part of my life. My bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees are all in the study of fine arts and art education. Like so many of us, I have experienced many career changes, but have always returned to the arts both as a career and as a form of self-expression. I find working in the arts a continuous challenge and know I will always experiment and study new ways to create. I most enjoy painting large, bold abstracts. I use acrylic for these works because this fast drying paint medium allows me to be spontaneous and experimental. I also work in oil pastels and transparent watercolors. It is a challenge and delight to switch back and forth among these art mediums. I now live in Tucson, after living for 25 years in Southern California where I owned and operated a private studio gallery. My teaching experience has been at all levels, kindergarten through graduate school. It is a great joy to help others create. I
am presently a member of The Drawing Studio and the Southern Arizona
Watercolor Guild. Through these local art groups, I have been able to
exhibit and to share and learn new techniques. My previous exhibit experiences
have included sixteen one-person shows, and I have won over 175 awards,
from Honorable Mentions and Purchase Awards to Best of Shows. I guess
you could say art is a big part of my life. |
