Vladimir Foitik

Bio:
Vladimir is a retired Engineer. He acquired Structural, Civil and Professional Engineering licenses in many states of the U.S. He worked as a Civil and Structural Engineer, Design Supervisor, Construction Inspector, and Project Manager on many different types of residential, commercial, light and heavy industrial projects in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.

Vladimir has several hobbies. One of them is his passion for instrumental music. He was a member of the ACT (Accordion Club of Tucson) for number of years, but there was not enough time to practice the accordion and concentrate on paintings. Therefore, after his retirement, Vladimir left ACT and devoted himself to visual art.

In 2008 Vladimir joined the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild (SAWG) and in 2009 was accepted as a juried member of SAWG. He participated in Annual SAWG Calendar shows at Brandi Fenton Park in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. His pictures were also accepted for the 2009 and 2011 Fiesta Sonora Signature Point Show and SAWG Experimental & Innovative Works in Water Media Art Show in November 2010. In April 2010 he had a solo exhibit show in the Kirk Bear Canyon Public Library and in October 2011 in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson. In September 2011 he joined the Art Alliance of the White Mountains, AZ.

Statement:
I am captivated by the transparency and luminescence of watercolors. It is unique to any other media, and if correctly applied, can be very rewarding. In the beginning I considered my engineering background as a minus until I realized that I can take advantage of it. Analyzing everything and understanding the principles of visual art and developing an ability to express my thought in a form of a created art must be an advantage! I am studying the different styles, techniques, and media of the old and present masters and trying to apply everything I learn. I am inspired by many subjects surrounding us. To express my feelings this way is very relaxing and gratifying.
