Globe Mallow was inspired by the unusually colorful spring of '98. We saw blossoms on the wildflowers that many of us had never seen before. I saw this profusion of globe mallow on the way to Sabino Canyon, and knew I had to paint them. |
Grace CalteronePainting has been a part of my being since early childhood. Growing up in Pittsburgh and attending Saturday art classes at Carnegie Museum of Art gave me an early foundation for expressing my inner desire to create. I have lived in Tucson, Arizona for over thirty years, where I have combed the desert and mountain areas, seeking subjects for paintings. I see the desert as less defined, a magical place which allows me to capture the essence of it in a poetic and imaginative style.

Finger Rock is a well-known rock formation and canyon in the Santa Catalina Mountains. I never tire of painting this mountain and canyon area. One spot is more inspiring than the other. |
Since receiving my formal art training at the University of Arizona, I have attended numerous workshops and seminars. My many trips and extensive stays throughout Mexico and Latin America have provided a wealth of possibilities for my Latin inspired paintings. I am a signature
member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild and a charter member
of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C.
